I can't believe it's June already! I'm excited to be helping to plan my sister Julie's baby shower coming up on July 5th and then mine on August 22nd. It's so much fun!
I had my 23 week appointment this morning and BabyBoy is doing great! Right on schedule - his heart beat was 145. My next appt is in a month and I will have the glucose test done. Not too excited about it, but after having a root canal I'm not so scared of needles anymore :/
We've been working on our baby registry at Babies R Us and Buy Buy Baby. We're just so excited for our little miracle to get here!
What's going on with Baby??
Turn on the radio and sway to the music. With his sense of movement well developed by now, your baby can feel you dance. And now that he's more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound you may be able to see him squirm underneath your clothes. Blood vessels in his lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and the sounds that your baby's increasingly keen ears pick up are preparing for his entry into the outside world. Loud noises that become familiar now — such as your dog barking or the roar of the vacuum cleaner — probably won't faze him when he hears them outside the womb.
The end of this week is an important milestone: Your one-pounder would have a good chance of survival if born now--about 85 percent if given the right care. His body is well proportioned, although lacking in body fat, and the blood vessels in his lungs are developing to prepare for breathing.
