Our Christmas started Dec 23 when we headed home to Pittsburgh - destination Natrona Heights to be with the Schnur family. We had a really nice relaxing visit and got to introduce Jackson to some of Carl's long time neighbors. On Christmas we woke up at 7am, had breakfast, opened gifts, went to lunch at Uncle Dave's and then to my sister Julie's for Christmas dinner. It was a very nice day. I felt pretty grown up going to my sister's house (who has a baby!) and having dinner with just the 2 couples and babies. Jake and Jackson exchanged gifts and it was really cute. Jake was good at opening his presents and he really liked Sophie (the giraffe chew toy!)
It looks like Santa has been visiting Virginia already!Check out our house!
This is a picture of Jackson holding a boot ornament that Great Grampa Bremmer made for him. He has made one for ALL the grandchildren and now even for the Great-Grandchildren ....very special :)
Well I've been slacking some on this blog so here's a recap of the last 10 weeks with Jackson! I can't say enough great things about him. He's the love of our lives! We are very excited as Christmas day is fastly approaching and Jackson will celebrate his 1st Christmas. We are heading home to PA for a nice visit with family and friends. Jackson now weighs 12 pounds and is 23 inches long. Week 1 Week 2 Week 3 Week 4 Week 5 Week 6 Week 7 Week 8 Week 9
I can't believe Jackson will turn 1 month old tomorrow. Time really flys. Looking over the past month we have loved more than we thought we could, smiled more, shed happy tears, laughed and were just beyond thankful for our little angel. Jackson is doing very well. He wakes up once during the night to eat and goes right back to bed. Carl is a big help with him too. I'm so thankful for a Daddy that is willing to help and do anything for his baby. We've started to figure out a schedule for Jack. We usually get out of bed around 9, Jack naps around 11 for a few hours and once 7pm comes, we try to keep him awake until we go to bed around 11 so he'll sleep at night. He really does not like his carseat so it'll be interesting to see how our trip to PA goes for Thanksgiving. We'll be there from Nov 22-28 and hope to see many family and friends. Here are a few pictures from Halloween weekend when Jackson got to meet his cousin Jake for the first time. We had a great time visiting with my family!
Sorry it's been a little while since I've last written. Things are going great at the Schnur Household with new Baby Jackson! We've had a few visitors over the past week and it's been very nice. Carl was off all last week and it was great to spend time together and admire our baby together. Then on Monday (10/19) he had to go back to work and it was a sad day for Jeannie. Mommy and baby both missed Daddy and were waiting at the window when he pulled in the drive way! Jackson is such a good baby. He gets up usually once or twice during the night and after feeding, goes back to bed. He's sleeping on me now as I write this entry. We have taken lots of pictures of him and I'll post more soon. I'll also post a link to our kodak gallery site with all the hundreds of pictures we've taken in his first 2 weeks of life. Today he had his 2 week dr's appt and he did great, hardly even made a peep. He's 7lbs 10oz and 20 inches long. The doctor was very happy with his progress and pretty much everything about him! What can I say, we have a wonderful baby! More updates to come...

Jackson was born Wednesday, October 7th at 4:38pm. He weighed 7lbs 3oz and was 21 inches long. Here is a brief run down of the day: We were on time getting ready to leave for the hospital when I was putting my shoes on and my water suddenly broke. I immediately yelled for Carl to help me get changed. Once we arrived at the hospital and got checked in, my contractions started coming regularly and were painful. My doctor checked me and I was 4cm. Right then and there we discussed my options for pain management and I decided to go for the epidural based on how much pain I was already in. It didn't take long for the nurse anesthetist to come and give me the epidural. Immediately I felt relief and had a smile on my face. That lasted about 2 hours when I started to feel the pain on my right side. At the same time, Jackson wasn't responding well to the contractions and his heart rate kept going up and down. It was scary to see it hit the low 90s at one point. The one thing that kept me going besides, Carl being so supportive, was the thought of all our family and friends praying for us. The anesthesiologist came in to give me more medicine in my epidural and within 5 minutes I felt so much better. At this time, I was 6cm dilated, 100% effaced and 0 station, meaning the baby's head was right there! The doctor decided that my only real option was to have a c-section because I wasn't dilating and the baby's head couldn't move down any further. I was pretty scared and upset because this wasn't my ideal plan, but I just wanted to have a healthy baby in my arms. Once in the OR, I was prepped for the surgery but I could still feel the doctor as she was pinching my skin. I immediately told them to stop and they decided the best thing for them to do was to completely put me out under general anesthesia. They wouldn't let Carl stay with me and I didn't get to see Carl again until 3 hours later. The first thing I remember saying when I woke up was "So how's the baby? What does he look like? How much does he weigh?" and I really wanted to see Carl. It was hard being separated from my loves for that long! When I finally met them back in the room, it was so surreal. I couldn't believe that I was about to meet the little one that was in my belly for the past 9 months! Jackson is absolutely adorable and we couldn't ask for a better baby!
Well today is my last day before our life completely changes! I am so excited for this next chapter in our lives! I'm not doing too much today but relaxing and getting a few last minute things done. It's hard to imagine that tomorrow I'll be holding my baby in my arms! Here's a cute picture of my nephew Jake laying next to my belly. He is 8lbs 10oz...I hope that's not the size of my baby!!
Well my due date has officially come and gone and still no baby! I've been having contractions on and off. On Wednesday night (9/30) they started getting more intense for 3 hours every 5 minutes but then they stopped once I went to bed. Then the same thing happened on Thursday night except I only slept from 6-7Am. So we decided to call the doctor and tell her we were going to the hospital. She asked us to stop in her office so she could check me first. Well I wasn't progressed far enough, only 2cm, so she suggested I go back home and try to stay comfortable. I was really disappointed. My family decided to come down for the weekend because we thought for sure the baby would be born this weekend but the days came and went and still no baby. I felt bad that the baby didn't come but at least they were here to keep my occupied, instead of just sitting around waiting. Here are some recent pictures!
