Yay! I'm now in my 2nd trimester!! This pregnancy is going fast but not fast enough for us to find out what we're having!! We have to wait til mid May to find out! But it's worth the wait. I'm feeling great. I had a spa pedicure on Thursday with my Sister-in-Law Laura and it was an awesome girl's night out! I have to make a statement here about restaurants not offering French dressing anymore. I've been to 3 places in the past 2 weeks that don't have french dressing and today it broke my heart. I was so set on a salad with french dressing from Damon's today (the main reason for going) and they DIDN'T have it!! I almost cried. I also went to Pizza Hut and a grill and neither had french. I think I'm going to have to write a letter to someone!!
What's new with Baby this week? Fingerprints have formed on the baby's tiny fingertips, the veins and organs are clearly visible through the still-thin skin, and the body is starting to catch up with the head — which makes up just a third of the body size now. The baby is almost 3 inches long! The digestive tract continues to develop as tiny villi (hairs) form inside the intestines to help move food, and the pancreas has begun producing insulin. All 20 teeth buds have formed inside the baby's mouth.
I'm feeling really great and my belly is really making it's appearance now. Everything is going very well. We're just anxious to find out what we're having so we can start decorating the nursery and doing all that fun stuff!
What's the baby up to this week? The most dramatic development this week: reflexes. Your baby's fingers will soon begin to open and close, the toes will curl, eye muscles will clench, and the mouth will make sucking movements.
Today I had my first official OB appt. We went over what to expect during the pregnancy, info about the hospital and a whole bunch of other stuff. I had to give 4 tubes of blood and was really nervous at first but it wasn't bad at all. At least I don't have to do that again until 28 weeks for the glucose test! I also got to hear the heartbeat!! It was so cool to hear the swooshing sound. The baby's heart rate was 170 -so make your predictions :) Next appt is April 14th... I'll post some more pics this weekend!
Time is just flying by so fast! My baby belly has definitely made it's debut and it looks cute on most days! I'm overcoming some issues with my lower back so hopefully that will be healed in no time! But I can take that over being nauseous and throwing up any day! I'll try to put some new pictures soon. My next appt is on Tuesday so hopefully we'll get to hear the heartbeat!!
Check out what's going on with Baby Schnur this week:Your baby, just over 1 1/2 inches long and about the size of a fig, is now almost fully formed. Her hands will soon open and close into fists, tiny tooth buds are beginning to appear under her gums, and some of her bones are beginning to harden. She's already busy kicking and stretching, and her tiny movements are so effortless they look like water ballet. These movements will become more frequent as her body grows and becomes more developed and functional. You won't feel your baby's acrobatics for another month or two — nor will you notice the hiccupping that may be happening now that her diaphragm is forming.
We went home this past weekend to share our good news and it was a blast! First we stopped at my parents house and we had put a pic of the sonogram and a poem in a double picture frame and wrapped it. I had my youngest siblings Tim and Rachel open it and when Tim saw it he said "This is nothing!" and kinda pushed it to the side. It was sooo funny!! Everyone was very excited!! Then the next day we went to Carl's parents and we had made a wedding photo album (since I never gave her one from 2 years ago) and the last page of the book had a sonogram pic and a poem. As she turned to that page she was overcome with a few tears of joy and excitement. It was a really cool moment!
