9 weeks!!!

Well yesterday we had our ultrasound and it was such a neat experience. We couldn't hear the heartbeat yet but we saw the heart fluttering so fast. My Dr. said everything looks perfect and on track for Oct. 2nd!! I go back in 3 weeks for my first official OB appointment. She already prepared me that I'll have to give a couple tubes of blood so at least I know what to expect. We'll also get to hear the heartbeat at that appointment too. Things are progressing very well!
My weight: 116

What’s new with the Baby this week:
Your new resident is nearly an inch long —about the size of a grape— and weighs just a fraction of an ounce. She's starting to look more and more human. Her essential body parts are accounted for, though they'll go through plenty of fine-tuning in the coming months. Other changes abound: Your baby's heart finishes dividing into four chambers, and the valves start to form — as do her tiny teeth. The embryonic "tail" is completely gone. Your baby's organs, muscles, and nerves are kicking into gear. The external sex organs are there but won't be distinguishable as male or female for another few weeks. Her eyes are fully formed, but her eyelids are fused shut and won't open until 27 weeks. She has tiny earlobes, and her mouth, nose, and nostrils are more distinct. The placenta is developed enough now to take over most of the critical job of producing hormones. Now that your baby's basic physiology is in place, she's poised for rapid weight gain. Week 8! On to Month 3

I can't believe I'm starting month 3 already! I'm so excited! This week we have our first ultrasound. I have had a huge appetite this past week. I never thought that talk about cravings and aversions was true but wow- some food this week have really turned me off! Like ranch dressing on my salad. I could hardly take a bite, but I did manage to finish it!

Baby, meanwhile, is starting to form ears, a nose and lips! The head is still pretty big compared with the rest of the body, and it's resting on his/her chest. The baby looks somewhat like and is the size of a small shrimp! (babyfit.com)
The folds that will form your baby's eyelids are forming on the face, while nerve cells in the retina are developing, paving the way for sight. The very tip of your baby's nose is now present, and their tiny ears are forming both on the outside and inside of the head, as nerve pathways related to hearing develop. The tubes connecting the lungs and throat are sprouting, and their arms are growing longer. In fact, your baby now has a pair of elbows!

7 weeks, 4 days

I feel like I'm starting to show already! When I put my jeans on this morning (my most loose fitting pair) they were tight! I feel slightly self conscious that everyone is looking right at my belly! Anyways I have been feeling good - a slight case of nausea in the mornings and at night but at least I know my baby is growing! I went to my first Dr's appt on February 12 where they took blood and let me just say I did so good! I'm usually terrified of needles but I didn't cry or really even have alot of nervous emotions. So I'm thinking that now that I have this little one growing I'm going to think that everything I go through is for him/her! So it's all worth it. I'm just soo excited! My first ultrasound is Feb. 26th and I can't wait to hear the heartbeat. Carl's coming with me and I'm so excited to share this experience together!!

7 weeks!
Hands and feet are emerging from developing arms and legs — although they look more like paddles at this point than the tiny, pudgy extremities you're daydreaming about holding and tickling. Technically, your baby is still considered an embryo and has something of a small tail, which is an extension of her tailbone. The tail will disappear within a few weeks, but that's the only thing getting smaller. Your baby has doubled in size since last week and now measures half an inch long, about the size of a blueberry.
